As the Chronicle says: "Take Notice of Public Notices"
The signs on the lamposts say, road closed from 21st February to 21st March. The Public notice in the Chronicle says 21st February to 18th March 2011, 24 hour closures. What's three days. The Public Notice actually says:
The proposed order will come into operation on 21st February 2011 for a period of four months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

The road will be closed from Dells Lane to Drove Road to enable foul sewer connection works to take place. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises, but may be restricted from time to time.
The alternative route available (according to the Public Notice) :
Proceed on London Road in a southerly direction, continuing over two roundabouts to junction with A1. Take second exit and continue on A1 to roundabout with Hill Lane. Take 3rd exit and continue on Hill Lane and then Shortmead Street to roundabout with High Street. Take 1st exit and continue on High Street to junction with Dells Lane and site and vice versa..
Don't be silly no-one is going to do that, They will all come down Holme Court Avenue and Dells Lane and vice versa, like they all do when there is a problem in London Road.
