The meetings although agreed, back in March 2011 for the forthcoming year, 2011/2012, have still not been published on the Town Council web site.
If you look at the "Noticeboard" then under notices on the web site, you will see that the dates for the Annual Statutory Meeting and the Town Annual Assembly are both shown.
In this blog I will just deal with the Annual Statutory Meeting. I will write another for the Town Annual Assembly.
The Annual Statutory Meeting is where the Town Council firstly decide who will be the next Mayor and who will be on various committees and appointed to various organisations. I am sure you realise this has all been decided in advance of the meeting and they just go through the motions. In fact a little birdie told me some months ago who the next Mayor was going to be despite the small hurdle of a local election on 5th May 2011.
They generally add on the planning meeting and consider planning applications and also "items for consideration". One of the items considered on 11th May 2010 was tenders for play equipment for Kitelands and Eagle Farm Road. Apparently in June 2009 it was agreed to obtain tenders for the work. If the minutes are to be believed, a year further went by before the tenders had been received :
Quotation A – Option 1 £26,311 ex VAT
Quotation A – Option 2 £18,085 ex VAT
Quotation B - £32,404.60 ex VAT
Quotation C - £29,964.00 ex VAT
Quotation D - £25,970.00 ex VAT
Quotation E – Option 1 £18,840.00 ex VAT
Quotation E – Option 2 £23,760.00 ex VAT
It was RESOLVED that highest, Quotation B be accepted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are no reasons given in the minutes.
It was also minuted that the Town Council has 106 monies that are currently held with CBC that are due to expire if they are not used by the end of May 2010 (within the next three weeks?) Since I am not aware of the Kitelands scheme went ahead I presume the monies were lost.
