Street Clutter - Sorrel Way - The Most Signposted Street in Biggleswade?

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Street Clutter":

I would like to submit Sorrel Way for the (doubtful) accolade of being the 'most signposted' street in Biggleswade.

Have a look at the back cover of the Biggleswade Town Plan Document -

There must be at least 18 highways-related signs and road markings in a 200 or so metre stretch of street

Surely this is a record?

  1. Looking at the photos above it looks like you have a situation where drivers coming in opposite directions are both faced with "Give Way" signs!

So who has the priority? Maybe the chap emerging from the garage area driveway on the right?!

  2. This has been a trend in the UK at least since the 1964 Traffic Signs Regulations were published, and possibly before. Let us hope that the regulations from 2010 will address some of this.

Anyone watching old videos of Britain before the 1950s can see clearly the huge decline in terms of its physical and aesthetic appearance since then, also owing to the onslaught of mud-brown/red brick/grey mass-produced housing, as in evidence above.
