Councilor Maurice Jones, (Biggleswade District Councillor), Portfolio Holder for Finance, Governance & People, submitted a report to the District Council Meeting on 24th February and recommended that the Council make no changes to the Members’ Allowances Scheme for the year 2011/12.
Amazingly CBC Councillors did not agree!
Extract from CBC Press release dated 28th February 2011:
"Councillors also voted for a two per cent cut in their allowances for 2011/12, mirroring proposals currently out for consultation with Central Bedfordshire employees and unions for a two per cent reduction in council workers' pay from April. "
The basic allowance will remain at £11,220 up to 31st March 2011 but from the 1st April 2011, will be reduced, by my calculation to £10,995.60. A reduction of £224.40.
