Biggleswade Health Facilities

NHS Bedfordshire (now NHS Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group), has obtained planning permission for works at  Biggleswade Health Centre, Saffron Road, Biggleswade, to carry out internal & external refurbishment and an extension to the existing Health Centre to provide modern updated facilities for the GP Surgery and NHS Community Services. To provide temporary modular accommodation to be sited on the existing health centre car park to provide temporary accommodation for existing GP & NHS staff and visitors for the duration of the construction works.

Details of the planning application can be viewed here:

I understand the works are due for completion in the Spring of 2014.

I have also been given to understand that negotiations are continuing with occupants of The Acorn Centre, Chestnut Avenue, Biggleswade (owned by CBC), so that The Ivel Medical Centre of The Baulk, Biggleswade will be able to "expand".

This strategy is part of CBC / NHS / Doctors practices way forward, taking account of the responses to the Biggleswade Town Plan Consultation exercise when over 70% of respondents wanted the facilities to remain in the Town Centre.
