  1. Here are my thoughts:
I welcome that at last some members of the Town Council concur with the concept of consulting with residents regarding the Biggleswade Town Council Web Site; these are my expectations that I have passed to the Council:

Councillors details including photographs and all contact details, phone, address and email addresses all as 'name'@BiggleswadeTownCouncil.gov.uk

    Minutes and agendas

    Document archive

Local events and Council meetings calendar

Links to Biggleswade community group and useful web sites

    Area maps

Live local travel and weather RSS feeds

Town news with with RSS feeds and an Online Newsletter that anyone can subscribe to

    A-Z Local Directory

All Planning Applications coming before the Town Council with links to CBC documents

    Site Search tool

Homepage visitor counter visible to all users

    Online Contact Form

Email-a-friend to be able to directly recommend the website to a chosen email address

    An FAQ page

    Photo gallery

Blog page that councillors and administration staff can input to

    Basic forum page

A Youth section with a youth representative as editor

On-line consultation with questionnaires and simple polls as subjects arise

Reports from the Mayor and Committee Chairmen

Online Booking Form for the use of the Chamber by resident groups

The town guide basic history of the town

Links to Bus and train time tables

    Locations of bus stops

Locations of car parks and time limits

Precise locations of all play and recreational areas

    Details of markets

Most of these require just one-off inputs with minimal maintenance. Therefore they will in fact reduce the amount of time the Town Council staff have to spend answering queries as well as giving the town a resource to be proud of.

I also said, "I note that there is no reference to this consultation on the existing Town Council web site, please add it. I have put a notice on the Town Plan web site announcing it.

Whilst you are attending to this addition please look at the Photo section which is not working at all, the Meetings section which has missing Adobe Acrobat and page header and footer graphics; all the links to documents for 2006/7 fail, including the link up to 2007/8, as do documents for 2007/8. Having got into the Meetings section there is no way back to the rest of the web site and there is no means for contacting councillors.

In short, the existing web site is an appalling mess; I fail to see how our Mayor can announce in the Biggleswade Chronicle to the contrary and be encouraging people to visit it!"
