Night time burglaries

Bedfordshire police are reminding people to lock their doors and windows after two night time burglaries took place over the weekend.
An elderly couple were burgled whilst asleep at their home, during the early hours of Saturday 13 August.
The first incident happened at a bungalow on Harewood Road, Bedford. The man entered the property through an insecure bedroom window which was next to the bed the couple were sleeping in.
The woman was woken to find a hooded man searching a wardrobe in their bedroom. She called out to the intruder but he then fled the scene through the front door, which was also unlocked.
Cash was stolen along with a Sainsbury’s savings card with the value of £44 on, the couple were saving towards Christmas. Sainsbury’s, Clapham Road, kindly reimbursed the card.
The second burglary took place at around 11:30pm on Saturday evening.
An elderly husband and his wife were at their home, Green Lane, Clapham, when the incident took place.
The woman called out to her husband after she disturbed the offender at the top of the stairs. The man tried to wrestle the intruder however he managed to get away through the kitchen door. He is believed to have only taken the lady’s watch.
Police are looking into the possibility that the two burglaries are related. Anyone with any information should contact the officer in charge, DC Andrew Boston, in confidence, on 01234 275351, or text information to 07786 200011.
