At the 18th June 2013 meeting of
Public Land & Open Spaces Committee of Biggleswade Town Council, it was
recommended that three new pieces of play equipment be provided. This replaced
the previous larger scheme that was agreed by Council Members in 2009 but was
never implemented.
The three pieces of equipment
are:
4 metre climb net
Freeride
Aeroskate
No members of the public at the
18th June meeting were able to comment on the discussions concerning the equipment as
only Councillors & Officers had pictures of the proposed equipment and the
layout.
This week work has started on the
installation of the equipment.

With its roots in surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding Freeride is the ride to get them excited. Older children can stand on the "board" to ride whilst younger ones can remain seated even back-to-back. When stood you simply use the side support grab handles to support you as you flex through the hips to ride the waves. It's a challenging ride, requiring balance, skill and spatial awareness, however it's very inclusive. It has the strength of a traditional swing but takes up a lot less space. Most importantly kids love it.
