On Saturday 7th July, Sandy Town Council and Central Bedfordshire Council invite you to join them on the Squires Walk around Sandy, to celebrate the launch of the Sandy Jubilee Walks leaflet and the 25th Anniversary of the Greensand Ridge Walk.
The guided circular walk starts at 9.30am from the Sandy Town Centre Park and incorporates the Pinnacle at Sandy and the RSPB Nature Reserve. There will be short talks on Sandy and the RSPB along the route.
Walkers can decide on the day whether to complete the full walk (approximately 2 hours duration) or a shorter walk (approximately 1 hour duration). Dogs will be permitted on leads. Refreshments will be available to purchase and there will be display stands from a number of organisations including Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity, Central Bedfordshire Council, Ramblers and Sandy Tourist Information Centre.
The Squires Walk, which features some fantastic views, is one of the six routes featured in the new leaflet which has been produced by Sandy Town Council to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
The free leaflet includes six routes (one for each decade of the Queen’s reign), suitable for all abilities, including a pushchair friendly route and a cycle route, in and around Sandy.
The Mayor of Sandy, Councillor Susan Sutton said: "Sandy Town Council is delighted to be promoting walking and we hope lots of people will join us to enjoy the beautiful countryside around Sandy."
If you would like to attend, please contact Sandy Tourist Information Centre on tourism@sandytowncouncil.gov.uk or Tel: 01767 682728 to book a place, or simply turn up on the day.
The Greensand Ridge Walk is a long distance walk which passes through Bedfordshire. It is Bedfordshire’s premier long distance walk and provides excellent views across many valleys scattered with woodlands and historic features.
