The Trading Standards team would like to bring the following warning, recently issued by DVLA, to your attention:
NEWS - DVLA scam email warning
Watch out for emails claiming to be from the DVLA asking you to verify your driving licence details via an online link – it's a scam.
The DVLA has not sent any such email, so if you get one delete it immediately.

We are currrently upgrading our database and all drivers are required to update and verify there driver's license details. To complete your license verification with us, you are required to fill out the form in the link below.

Drivers that refuses to upgrade his or her details within two weeks of receiving this verification email will lose his or her driver's License and will have to take a fresh driving test.
We sincerely apologise for any inconviniences this might have caused you.
Thank you for your co-operation.
The above email is designed to obtain your personal and vehicle details. If you should receive such an email, we would advise that you delete it immediately. We would also urge you not to reply to the email or follow any of its instructions which may involve clicking on an attached web-link or opening a document.
The worrying thing is that people actually fall for these scams. Selling mistakes and poor grammar aside, the part about making people re-take their driving test is just silly.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of unscrupulous people trying to rip-off the innocent is spiraling out of control. Every time the phone goes, more often than not it is someone trying to sell you something/inform you about money your are entitled too/silence followed by phone being put down. What is going on!!
