Friday was a significant day for turning on lights in Biggleswade. The Christmas lights were being switched on in the Town Centre, and the four lights over Kitelands were also turned on just short of a year from when they were turned off under threat of a Planning Enforcement Notice.
Councillor Steven Watkins told me that the lights were supposed to have been done at the beginning of November but the electrician was unable to complete the job in time, having other matters to attend to. He did not tell the Town Clerk until he was asked about this following an email from Councillor Steven Watkins.
On Friday 2nd December I was told that from approx 9.30am in the morning until about 1.00pm there were a number of people looking at the lights, including someone from Amey.
The lights did come on when it got dark on Friday and Saturday nights and went off a few minutes after 8.pm. They were not on before 7 in the morning. Looks as if they may have cracked it at last.
