Weeds, weeds, weeds

It was mentioned at the Town Assembly that there was problem with large weeds around the Bonds Lane area in Biggleswade.

This is not an isolated incident. I have asked the Town Clerk who is responsible for dealing with them.

These pictures were taken at Mead End shops.

If you know of any other areas like this, please send me the pictures at Richard Mason.

  1. I contacted CBC Highways whose initial response is:

"We carry out a number of weed spraying operations throughout the season in Central Bedfordshire on a cyclic basis, I will check when this area was last sprayed, when it is due to be sprayed next and will reply to you by email.

Please bear in mind that the chemicals we are allowed to use for weed spraying only kill existing weeds that have leaves etc, and have no residual effect on the soil."

This does not address the build up of debris in the gutters, which takes many months, and stops them from allowing the water to run away and provides a medium for growing weeds. I have asked CBC Highways how they are going to address this problem.
